The University has a comprehensive set of arrangements for handling and storing waste to ensure as much as possible is recycled.
Halls of Residence
If you live in University halls of residence, recycling bags and black bags can be collected from the Accommodation Office reception. Please place your recycling and black bags at the recycling stations, in the appropriate bins provided.
Students are encouraged to empty their bins regularly. Waste is collected from the recycling stations on a Monday and Thursday.
Any electrical items which require disposal must be brought to the Accommodation Office.
If you live off campus, recycling bags can be collected from a number of locations throughout Rhonnda Cynnon Taf (RCT). The Treforest campus library has a selection of food waste and recycling bags which can be collected by students who reside off campus in the RCT area.
For more information on RCT waste and recycling, please visit the RCT council website.
If you live in the Cardiff area, recycling bags and food caddy liners can be picked up at designated stockists around Cardiff or ordered online and delivered to your door by the council if ordered on the council website. For more information visit the Cardiff Council’s website.
Alternatively, Cardiff Digs provides useful information on recycling and waste in Cardiff.
If you live in the Newport area, more information on what can be recycled, collection dates etc, can be found on the Newport Council Waste and Recycling webpage.
Local charity shops willingly accept reusable household items and goods. If you have any household items left at the end of term, don’t throw them away but think about donating them to a local charity.
