Travel from Treforest and Glyntaff Campuses to Cardiff and Newport

  • Train – Both Treforest and Glyntaff campuses are within 10 minutes walking distance of the railway station at Treforest, from which a regular service on the Valley Line network connects to Cardiff, Newport, Baglan and other mainline destinations via Cardiff Central.
  • Bus – The nearest bus stops to Glyntaff campus are on Cardiff Road running the 132 bus service to Cardiff and Merthyr. Buses stop on Llantwit Road immediately outside the Treforest campus running the 100 bus service to Pontypridd and Talbot Green.
  • Cycle – The National Cycle Route 8 runs directly past the Glyntaff campus and links with the Taff Trail Route 8 which connects to Cardiff Atrium and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama campuses to the south or Merthyr Tydfil College campus to the north. Lockable bike shed, locker and shower facilities are available on both campuses, ask at reception for more details. Using a combination of Route 4 and route 47 it is possible to get across to Newport via Caerphilly. See the Sustrans link for further details.

Travel from Merthyr Tydfil College, Crownford House and Old Town Hall Campuses to Treforest and Cardiff

  • Train – The Merthyr Tydfil College and other Merthyr campuses are within 10 minutes walking distance from Merthyr railway station based in the Town Centre, from which a regular service on the Valley Line network connects to Newport, Baglan and other mainline destinations via Cardiff Central.
  • Cycle – The Taff Trail National Cycle Route 8 runs from Merthyr College starting just past the river footbridge which leads to the Town Centre. It connects to Cardiff Atrium, Cromwell House, Atlantic House or Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama campuses to the south or Merthyr Tydfil College campus to the north. Bike shelter, locker and shower facilities are available on the campus – ask at reception for more details. Travel from Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama Campus to Cardiff, Treforest and Newport

  • Train – The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama campus is within 10 minutes walking distance from Cathays railway station, from which regular services connect to Newport, Baglan and other mainline destinations via Cardiff Central.
  • Bus – The nearest bus stop is on Greyfriars Road running the 400 bus service to Church Village, from where you can transfer on the 100 bus service to Treforest and Pontypridd. Bus services (30 or X30) also run to Newport from Cardiff Bus station.
  • Cycle – The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama is easily accessible by bicycle. A cycle path along North Road runs directly past the campus and links with the Taff Trail section of Route 8 and the national Cycle Network.   • Cycle – The National Cycle Route 8 runs directly past the Sport Park campus and links with the Taff Trail Route 8 which connects to Cardiff Atrium or Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama campuses to the south or Merthyr Tydfil College campus to the north. Travel between Baglan Campus and Cardiff

  • Train – The Baglan campus is within 10 minutes walking distance from Seaway Parade railway station, from which a regular service connects to Cardiff, Newport and other mainline destinations via Cardiff Central.

Travel from Atrium, Cromwell House and Atlantic House Campuses

  • Train – These campuses are all within 10 minutes walking distance of the nearest railway stations at Cardiff Queens Street and Cardiff Central, from where regular services connect to Treforest and Merthyr (via Queen Street) and to Newport, Baglan and other mainline destinations via Cardiff Central.
  • Bus – The nearest bus stop is on Greyfriars Road running the 400 bus service to Church Village, from where you can transfer on the 100 bus service to Treforest and Pontypridd. The number 30 or X30 Newport Bus service runs between Cardiff Bus Station and Newport Bus Station.
  • Cycle – The National Cycle Route 8 runs close to these campuses on North Road and links with the Taff Trail Route 8 which connects to Cardiff Atrium or Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama campuses to the south or Merthyr Tydfil College campus to the north. Travel from Caerleon Campus to Newport

  • Bus – The University of South Wales has teamed up with Newport Bus to offer heavily discounted bus services to students and staff. The Unigo Bus Pass (available from the Student Union Shop at Caerleon, or Newport Bus Station) is valid on all Newport Buses across their entire network, including Cardiff and Cwmbran. In particular, the 27, 28 and 29 services run between Newport and Caerleon from 7am to 7pm with 5 busses running per hour during this period. After this there is a bus every 30 minutes. The last bus is at 11:40pm. The number 30 and X30 run between Newport and Cardiff Bus Stations.
  • Train – Unfortunately there is currently no railway station at Caerleon, although this is under review. The nearest station is Cwmbran which links to Newport. There are bus links from Caerleon to Cwmbran. The Newport bus station is approximately 5 minutes walk from the train station.
  • Cycle – The Sustrans cycle network has a large number of cycle routes across the whole of South Wales. Route 88 connects Caerleon with Newport centre. Using a combination of Route 47 and route 4 it is possible to get across via Caerphilly to the Taff Trail route 8 which connects to either Cardiff and the Atrium or Royal College campuses to the south or Glyntaf and Treforest campuses to the north. Newport to Cardiff

  • Train – The main line from Swansea to London Paddington can be used to travel between Cardiff and Newport from Cardiff Central station.
  • Walk – The City Campus is approximately 10 – 15 minutes from the central train station and around 10 minutes walk from the central bus station.
